DR SHARON WONG is a UK trained, GMC-registered Consultant Dermatologist based in London, practising at The Shard, Old Broad Street and Harley Street. She is one of the UK’s few dermatologists to specialise in hair and scalp disorders and is the current President of the Institute of Trichologists (IOT).

Renowned as one of London’s most sought-after specialists, Dr Sharon has carved a unique niche by integrating medical trichology with dermatology — an approach she developed to overcome the limitations of traditional trichology and to demystify the complexities of skin, hair loss and scalp conditions. Her work spans the full spectrum of medical dermatology, with particular expertise in complex hair loss and scalp disorders across all hair types, including Asian and Afro-Caribbean patients.

Dr Sharon is widely recognised for her holistic assessments, warm and empathetic approach, clear-cut diagnoses and highly effective, medically led treatment plans. With a deep understanding that hair is a sensitive barometer of overall health, she places equal emphasis on clinical outcomes and the often-underestimated psychological impact of hair loss, ensuring every patient feels informed, supported and empowered.

Driven by a passion to change the narrative around hair loss, Dr Sharon founded the charitable initiative Get Ahead of Hair Loss in 2018. The foundation hosts public educational events that bring together leading experts in dermatology, trichology, hair science, hairdressing, cosmetic camouflage and psychology to raise awareness and encourage open conversation around hair loss and wellbeing.

Dr Sharon is a spokesperson for the British Association of Dermatologists and sits on the Medical Advisory Board of the British Beauty Council. She is also an active member of the British Hair and Nail Society (BHNS) and the European Hair Research Society (EHRS). In her commitment to making clinically proven, medical-grade hair loss treatments and education more accessible, she launched her online hair health brand DOSE in October 2025

A respected media authority, Dr Sharon regularly contributes expert commentary to leading publications including Vogue, ELLE, Tatler, Marie Claire, Women’s Health, The Financial Times, The Telegraph, The Times, Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping and The Independent. She has also featured in BBC documentaries on skin health and wellbeing, including The Diagnosis Detectives and SKIN. In 2020, she appeared alongside an assembly of leading medical experts on BBC Two, helping to diagnose patients with life-changing conditions.

Often referred to as “The Trichoderm”, Dr Sharon combines scientific rigour with compassionate care, offering patients clarity, confidence and evidence-based solutions—the gateway to truly integrated skin, hair and scalp health.
